I'm Petr, a double bassist and developer. I've spent years with an upright bass, studying its resonance, how the bow shapes tone, and how acoustic instruments demand something different from the tools designed for synthesizers.

Ferment started as a personal research project. I couldn't find an effects plugin that understood bow dynamics, acoustic resonance and the nuances of stringed instruments. So I built one.

What began with upright bass expanded. Violin. Cello. Guitar. Synth. Voice. Every instrument that deserves expressive processing. The idea was simple: instead of forcing an instrument into a preset, let the preset adapt to the instrument.

Ferment wouldn't exist without AI. I use Claude for code, Gemini Flash for Magic mode. This isn't a gimmick. It's how a one-person lab ships a product that would otherwise take a team.

I'm transparent about it. Magic mode tells you it's powered by AI. The presets it generates are real, configurable and refinable. You're not locked into what the algorithm suggests. You take it, own it and shape it further in Machine.
